Sixth installment of Custom Made‘s “Street Cinema” series released as a free download via 2dopeboyz.com

Straight from Los Angeles and one of the emerging groups from Cali’s promising youth movement, Custom Made (Bluff, Element, Scoobs and Six) returns with the sixth installment from their “Street Cinema” series Street Cinema Vol: 6 The Lost Weekend (the previous five pushed north of 100K units sold).

The Lost Weekend is a compilation of tracks that were recorded during sessions for Truth Be Told (Rawkus/2007), Heavy Traffic (Custom Made/2007), Great Expectations (Custom Made/2008) and Original Dynasty (Babygrande/2008) and new tracks that were recorded with Six after his release from prison (Six was in prison for 2 years from 2007-2008 and is currently incarcerated for parole violations).

A few leaks from The Lost Weekend project have already surfaced and have been included and can be found renowned outlets such as Hiphopdx.com, ballerstatus.com, hiphopgame.com, dubcnn.com, Djbooth.net, Ihiphop.com and esteemed blogs such as 2dopeboyz.com (who graciously hosted the exclusive premiere of The Lost Weekend–thanks to Shake and Meka), Onsmash.com, Worldstarhiphop.com and smokingsection.com.

Element and Abstrakt Soundz “URB Next 1000″

URB

Los Angeles MC Element and his frequent collaborator/producer Abstrakt Soundz are well on their way to becoming one of the strongest rapper/producer duos in the game. Element’s smooth yet fiery flows interweave perfectly with the soulful, hard-hitting beats provided by Abstrakt Soundz. Element, a member of rap group Custom Made, cites Bob Dylan, Metallica, the Isley Brothers, and Canibus among his influences, bringing the lyrical and rhythmic qualities of each respective artist to this project’s transcendent indie hip-hop sound. The haunting “I Am” is a fine example of the lyrical and musical depths that Element and Abstrakt Soundz could reach.

“I Am”

I Am is a track from Great Expectations, which is Element and Abstrakt’s first project together.  If  you haven’t heard Great Expectations you are missing out on one of 2008’s best projects.  The album is now available online at all major retailers.  Check the links on the left side of the page under the Releases section for more info.  If your one of the people who downloaded it for free make sure you spread the word!  Element and Abstrakt are putting the finishing touches on their new EP, A Long Story Short.  It was supposed to be ready to go this month, but it just wasn’t quite ready.

PLATFORM8470

1. What was the biggest moment of the year for you personally and in general?
Dropping ‘Original Dynasty’ was probably the biggest moment of the year for us. Dropping a new album is always a big moment. Besides that Six getting out of prison was big. Custom Made reunited once again.
2. Best album(s) of the year?
‘Original Dynasty’ hands down. If you haven’t heard it yet what are you waiting for? But for real, fuck hip-hop! Does anyone even listen to this shit anymore?
3. Best movie(s) of the year?
‘Miracle at St. Ana’ was good, but our lives are still realer than most of these movies nowadays. Custom Made TV is all you need to know. We’ll let you judge for yourself.
4. What do you wish for hip-hop in 2009?
Hip-hop is wack now. It’s still a lot of dope cats putting it down but the overall quality of the music has declined greatly. It’s too much gay shit going on. At this point if it isn’t Custom Made we don’t really care. Get off the bullshit and make music for yourself because there isn’t a rubric for this rap shit. There are no guidelines: you can do whatever the fuck you want.
5. What do you wish for the world in 2009?
Hopefully people can wake up and be happy and enjoy life. Stop worrying about money and material objects. We’re always about getting money, but you can’t be greedy. At the end of the day we’re going to have fun regardless the situation.
6. What releases/projects can we expect from you (and yours) in the 2009?
The Lost Weekend is the next release. After that we got ‘The Lavi Life Chronicles’ and ‘Fresh Out’ coming. We’ve been talking about ‘Fresh Out’ since 2005, so it’s about time. We also got solo projects coming from the rest of the crew too.
